Fear Of The Dark...

Σαν σήμερα το 1992 οι Iron Maiden κυκλοφόρησαν το Fear Of The Dark τον πρώτο, τελευταίο και καλύτερο δίσκο για την δεκαετία του '90

Προσωπική άποψη πάντα έτσι;...

Για μένα το No Prayer For The Dying -αν και πρώτος δίσκος σαν νεα κυκλοφορία που αγόρασα ενώ ήμουν ήδη οπαδός τους- είναι μια μετριότητα... η εποχή μετά την φυγή του Dickinson είναι αν όχι μέτρια αλλά κάκιστη. -εκτός απο κάποιες εκλάμψεις του στυλ The Sign Of The Cross και Clansman-

Οπότε για μένα την δεκαετία του '90 οι Maiden κυκλοφόρησαν μόνο εναν δίσκο...το Fear Of The Dark...

Έναν δίσκο που τους έφερε και πάλι στην κορυφή του Heavy Metal αλλά και σε πρωτιές πωλήσεων, έναν δίσκο που μετά την εποχή του άρχισαν οι ίδιοι οι Maiden να αντιγράφουν τις φόρμες του σε όλες τις επόμενες δουλειές τους και εν γένει ένας δίσκος που με εξαίρεση ίσως τα Brave New World και A Matter Of Life And Death είναι ο τελευταίος δίσκος που πραγματικά είχαν έμπνευση για να δημιουργήσουν... Γιατί όλα τα άλλα εκτός των 2 που προανέφερα, είναι αντιγραφές του Fear Of The Dark...πότε πετυχημένα -σπάνια- και πότε εντελώς αποτυχημένα -συχνά-

Είναι ο τελευταίος δίσκος με τον Dickinson -πριν επανέλθει το 1999 στο σχήμα και το 2000 δημιουργικά- αλλά και τελευταίος για τον μεγάλο παραγωγό Martin Birch -ξανά μανά πάλι αυτός;-

Είναι ο δίσκος που οι Maiden έχουν πλέον καθαρό προσανατολισμό στους στίχους τους. Καταπιάνονται και τα χώνουν στα πολιτικoοικονομικά κοινωνικά θρησκευτικά και στρατιωτικά παιχνίδια και συστήματα με τα Be Quick Or Be Dead, Afraid To Shoot Strangers, Weekend Warrior, Judas My Guide και The Fugitive . Δίνουν τροφή για σκέψη με τα Childhood's End -τρελά αγαπημένο- The Apparition και Fear Is The Key, και παίζουν με φοβίες στο Fear Of The Dark.

Στην Ελλάδα έφτασε μέχρι το #53 Αμερική το #12 ενώ στην Αγγλία το #1 (τρίτος δίσκος τους μετά τα Number Οf Τhe Βeast και Seventh Son Οf Α Seventh Son)
